Tingting Yao


Chinese-American Pianist Tingting Yao is a collaborative pianist and chamber musician. She currently serves as the official Staff Pianist at the University of Memphis-Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music.


Yao has appeared as a collaborative pianist in a variety of venues across the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and China. As an active collaborator, she was invited to the North America

Saxophone Alliance 2020 Biennial Conference (AZ), Red Rock Chamber Music Festival (AZ), Pittsburgh Festival Opera (PA), Collaborative Piano Institute (MN), SongFest (CA), Interlochen Center of the Arts (MI), Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (MI), Cadenza International Summer Music School (UK), Lake District Summer Music International Festival (UK).


A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Yao was in high demand as a chamber musician and collaborator in Birmingham, England. She has won every award she could as an accompanist in the Conservatoire and performed in venues such as Town Hall Symphony Hall (Birmingham), St John’s Smith Square (London), The Prince’s Teaching Institute (London), among others. Performance highlights included organizing and performing an All Polish Composer charity concert benefitting the Polish community in Birmingham and two sold-out “Music in the Attic” Fundraising concerts for St Mary’s church in London. Prior to her time in the United Kingdom, she was selected from pianists all over the world to work at LangLang Music World in Shenzhen, China.


Yao holds an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma (APD) in Collaborative Piano, a Master of Music in Piano Accompaniment (with Distinction) from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), a Master of Music from the University ofMelbourne (Australia) and a Bachelor of Arts from Tongji University, China.
